What can a small child give Mommy for her Birthday, Easter, Mother’s Day or other special occasion that will be meaningful for mother and child?

Here’s a quick and easy gift idea that will make any Mommy smile, and still be achievable for even very young children.  Make that special mom in your life happy with a personalized plant gift straight from a child’s heart.  If you are looking for a fun and easy homemade gift activity that an adult or an older sibling can do with children, this is it.

Only four easy steps to create a one of a kind, child friendly, forever to be remembered, very special gift for Mommy or Grandma.

Our Tips for a Super Surprise Mommy Gift -

  1. Spend a little time brainstorming about a card greeting.  Then have your child color the card with the personalized greeting.  Of course for preschoolers, you will be doing the writing, but the colored picture means just as much to Mom.  You can decorate with the card with the child’s picture, stickers, stars, glitter, etc.
  2. Take your child to a local garden center to pick out a small plant for Mom’s gift.  A 4” plant size is inexpensive and easy for the child to work with.   Ask for a plant care card to include (if available).  This will help the Mom with a black thumb succeed.
  3. The child wraps floral foil around the plant, ties on a bow and attaches the card.
  4. Watch Mommy’s big smile when she gets her growing gift.

This is also great holiday activity for a troop of Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts.  If bringing a group to the nursery, call ahead to see if they can provide someone to help guide the children in their selections to make the trip less chaotic and more fun for everyone.
